Although corruption disproportionately impacts women everywhere, we shouldn’t just be seen as victims – we are also fighting back. The Transparency International movement is full of such women, powerful and committed to fighting corruption and at the forefront of some of our biggest successes. On International Women’s Day 2018 here are just some of the remarkable women we are proud to call our colleagues.

Maggie Murphy

Maggie Murphy is Transparency International’s Senior Global Advocacy Manager. She engages with world leaders at the G20, amongst other high level summits, keeping corruption high on the world agenda! In her spare time Maggie is also a Guinness World Record Holder, organising and playing in the world’s highest altitude football match!

Sarah Steingrüber

One of our most exciting and fastest growing areas of work is our Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Programme. Sarah Steingruber is its Programme Manager and has overseen this rapid growth. Watch here explain how she fights corruption worldwide!

Jameela Raymond

Keeping track on what Governments have promised to do on fighting corruption is vital in ensuring they keep to their word! Jameela Raymond leads on our work holding governments to account and ensuring words are turned into action!

Olena Tregub

Our Defence and Security Programme has recently started a partnership with our colleagues in Ukraine – NAKO – monitoring corruption in Ukraine’s defence sector. Some of the recent work has focused on Ukroboronprom, the state conglomerate of defence companies. NAKO is led by its General Secretary, Olena Tregub.

Rachel Davies Teka

A few weeks ago Unexplained Wealth Orders were introduced in the UK. This was a significant moment in fighting corruption as the Bribery Act in 2010. Our efforts to bring about this change were led from start to finish by Rachel Davies Teka, our Head of Advocacy, who campaigned tirelessly for three years to bring this vital legislation about!

Laurene Bounaud

Over in France our colleagues have successfully fought for the past ten years to bring the Vice President of Equatorial Guinea in front of a French court for embezzlement. The chapter is led by Laurene Bounaud, who worked with other TI chapters and human rights activists around the world to turn this important case into reality.

Amira El-Sayed

Our Defence and Security Programme has also recently made huge strides in driving forward anti-corruption standards in Government Defence Institutions. Amira El Sayed leads our work in this area and is helping to establish a global standard for defence anti-corruption.

Kathryn Higgs

Since November our Business Integrity Programme has been led by Kathryn Higgs, helping to promote anti-corruption and business integrity in the private sector. She’s been ranked in the “Hot 100” UK lawyers and has been named “Compliance Specialist of the Year” at the Women in Compliance Awards. Here she is in Paris, moments before chairing an OECD panel on women in compliance.

Marwa Fatafta
